About this collection

This collection contains photos of the ruins of a Gothic castle called Angel Mountain situated near the city of Carlsbad. Due to its proximity to the German border, you can often encounter its German name: Engelhaus. On sunny days, this building from the second half of the 14th century perching on a promontory above the town offers beautiful panoramas of the surrounding landscape to anyone who chooses to climb up the hill. In its heyday, the castle experienced both good and bad times. Even though the damage caused by a fierce attack of the Swedes during the Thirty Years' War was successfully repaired, after the fire in 1718 there was no turning back. As a result, the collapsed castle roof was the first step towards its today appearance. Nevertheless, the forgotten corners of the castle covered by grass have a unique charm that is even stronger in 3D, allowing you to visit the mountain of angels from the comfort of your own home.
