A boat trip to Picton - Queen Charlotte Track, Renwick - wine
21 January: An arrival in Picton with a stop at the brightly colored rich blue church. An evening barbecue at a short distance from a small marina.
22 January: A hike along the Queen Charlotte Track overlooking the coast north of Picton. Afterwards a wine tasting in Renwick and its vicinity.
23 January: Leaving for Kaikoura.

Kaikoura - whales, sea lions, Reefton - history, Charleston - Tasman Sea, Punakaiki - Pancake Rocks
23 January: A whale watching steamer cruise in the afternoon, watching sea lions, a walk along a trail around the Kaikoura coast, swimming in the Pacific, views of the coast.
24 January: Leaving Kaikoura and traveling from the east coast to the west coast through the historic town of Reefton. Farewell to the Tasman Sea in Charleston south of the town of Westport. A tour of beaches in the Paparoa National Park and a walk along a nature trail to see the so-called Pancake Rocks in Punakaiki. Continuing to Hokitika through Greymouth.

Hokitika - National Kiwi Center, eels, the coast
24 January: An evening arrival in Hokitika and a tour of the coast.
25 January: A morning visit of the National Kiwi Center in Hokitika that is breeding Kiwi, one of the endangered bird species. This bird hunts in the dark based on its smell. The next day, we enjoyed another first-hand experience - feeding eels. Then, at noon, a trip to see glaciers.

Franz Josef, Fox Glacier - icebergs, Lake Matheson - icebergs reflected in the water
25 January: Leaving Hokitika at noon to see glaciers: Franz Josef - a helicopter flight, waterfalls, Fox Glacier - accommodation with views of the mountains. An evening walk along a nature trail around Lake Matheson with views of the glacier and its reflections in the crystal clear water of the lake with wonderfully bright natural colors. We could also admire the reflection of the slowly setting sun.
