Thailand is a travel classic. A beautiful sea, beautiful beaches, beautiful women, and millions of tourists. Yet even this country has areas that can offer you peace and quiet such as the center of northern Thailand - a mountainous area surrounding the city of Chiang Mai: a place from which you can set out on great trips into the mountains. It's a part of the country stretching along the border with Burma, with extensive cave areas and places like the Cave Lodge Guesthouse, an isle of peace in the busy Thailand.
Malaysia came as a big surprise. It's probably the most developed state in Southeast Asia, except maybe the tiny Singapore. The capital Kuala Lumpur doesn't even seem to belong to this part of the world. So, imagine my amazement when I arrived on the island of Tioman, which, despite its easy accessibility, isn't corrupted by the tourist veneer like the Thai islands and its simple facilities retain the charm and touch of Asia. Travelers are attracted above all by its high level of conservation of nature: here, it's easy to come across monitor lizards, sea eagles, but also wonderful beaches with rich undersea flora and fauna.
